MOSCOW, August 16, 2012 — As for the solution to the present situation, it is very simple and based on respect of these principles. It is essential that external players “press” all Syrian parties, stop stirring up continuation of armed struggle, and force the government also to execute the six-point plan and the Geneva communiqué.
By the way, the Syrian government has expressed its willingness to do so if the opposition agrees to the same.
But the opposition does not agree.
I recall that Geneva communiqué – a document adopted by consensus involving all five permanent members of the UN, the Arab States, Turkey and China.
We still believe that achieved in Geneva arrangements should not be sabotaged. Literally in the next few days we will request our partners for clear answer, if they confirm what they signed in Geneva. If so, why they do not take concrete steps to implement the plan. (*)
